Moms of boys know their children prefer to stay on the move. Always. So the challenge in character-building is to find something to engage their activity level to teach a lesson. I've found concrete assignments work best.

Last year, our family went shopping for a Thanksgiving meal to benefit a local homeless shelter. My boys learned that at a time when we celebrate plenty, there are those who do not have as much. Their gratitude AND confidence grew as they helped make a difference in our community.
