For hundreds of thousands of years, some Indian cultures have viewed cows as sacred creatures. This stems from the importance of cows in the economy of ancient India, where they were used for much more than just milk or meat. Their dung was converted to fuel; their hides were skinned for leather; even their urine was esteemed for medicinal purposes.

Despite their many uses though, slaughtering cows is restricted in India today. The Hindu culture worships them as a sacred being and the most evolved of all animals. And it turns out that these placid bovine creatures may possess many healing properties as well, including the ability to reverse the aging process.

Leading biotech company, Vilacto Bio, is among a handful of pioneers making the benefits of cow's milk available to the public through cosmeceutical products and therapeutic proteins with restorative qualities, making the skin look younger and healthier. But what’s so special about cow's milk that’s causing such a stir in the anti-aging market?

A Discovery Made When Cloning Cows

Back in 2000, scientists in Massachusetts cloned six cows with surprising results. The cloned cows showed signs of being biologically younger than their actual age. One of the cows was nearly one year old but had the cells of a newborn. These results differed from those seen when cloning sheep, where the animal appeared older than its actual age.

"There is a very real possibility that, if this cellular phenomenon transfers into an entire organism, you would end up with a patient or an animal that had a longer lifespan,” explained Robert Lanza of Advanced Cell Technology, one of the researchers involved in the cloning.

But while the concept of cloning cows still straddles the ethical threshold, harnessing the anti-aging properties of the animal’s milk is easier to swallow.

The Benefits of Cow’s Milk

Vilacto Bio applies the latest technology to refine a type of cow’s milk known as colostrum for its Vilact line of anti-aging products. Colostrum is produced by mammals in the late stages of pregnancy, just prior to giving birth, and contains numerous antibodies that are proven to protect newborns from disease.

Vilact products extract the active substance in colostrum and transform it into small particles that can penetrate the human skin to repair damaged cells, the harmful effects of sunlight, and even undo signs of aging.

Bovine colostrum can also be used to boost the immune system, heal injuries, repair nervous system damage, and as an agent for killing bacteria and fungus. Some athletes even use it to burn fat, build lean muscle and increase stamina, in an effort to improve their overall athletic performance.

Yet perhaps the most surprising (and marketable) quality of bovine colostrum is its effectiveness at slowing and reversing aging. The immune and growth substances in bovine colostrum have regenerative effects that are believed to be able to impact the structural cells of the body. It further promotes anti-aging by increasing insulin-like growth-factor-1 to pre-puberty levels. This increases muscle mass and strength and also stimulates the growth and repair of DNA and RNA.

Backed by Science

There are further studies that support the regenerative effects of bovine colostrum on both the body and mind. A double-blind placebo controlled study published in 1999 found that components contained in bovine colostrum could be used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Grass-fed organic cow’s milk contains a ton of omega-3 essential fatty acids, which reduce inflammation, one of the contributors to aging. An 8-ounce serving contains at least 75 mg of conjugated linoleic acid, which is great for anti-aging as it supports the immune and inflammatory systems, improves bone mass and blood sugar regulation, reduces the risk of heart attack, and helps maintain lean body mass.

If you’re still skeptical, take a look at the milk you drink everyday. Despite a tendency towards soy, almond and coconut, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the average person still drinks around 18 gallons of milk per year for its health value, vitamins and minerals. Now imagine a concentrated dose of bovine colostrum applied directly on your skin.

It may still be a few years before we can determine whether cow’s milk can extend human life expectancy, but if you’re looking to improve your appearance in the meantime, companies like Vilacto hold the key. It’s time to start supplementing your daily glass of milk with a dose of bovine colostrum on your skin.
