Abamune L combination is used together with other medicines to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. HIV is the virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

Abamune L combination will not cure or prevent HIV infection or the symptoms of AIDS. Abamune L helps keep HIV from reproducing and appears to slow down the destruction of the immune system. This may help delay the development of serious health problems usually related to AIDS or HIV infection. Abamune L combination will not keep you from spreading HIV to other people. People who receive Abamune L may continue to have other problems usually related to AIDS or HIV infection.

Abamune L is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Abamune L tablets Dosage :

Antiretroviral combination therapy for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in adults and adolescents from 12 years.

Additional information on the use of Abamune L for treatment of HIV-1 infection: The demonstration of the benefit of the combination Abamune L as a once-daily regimen in antiretroviral therapy is mainly based on 1 study performed in primarily asymptomatic treatment-naive adult patients.

As part of a triple-drug regimen, Abamune L tablets are recommended for use with antiretroviral agents from different pharmacological classes and not with other nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors.

How does abamune-l work?

The two medications, abacavir and lamivudine combined together, help prevent HIV from reproducing. The HIV virus is responsible for acquired immune deficiency syndrome as HIV infection destroys CD4 (T) cells, which are important to the body’s immune system. The immune system is what helps fight infections. Abamune-L tablets do not cure AIDS or destroy the HIV virus but rather delay further damage to the immune system by stopping the production of new viruses. Abamune-L tablets do not reduce the risk of passing the infection to others. It is important that you continue to take precautions to prevent this from happening as the HIV virus can still be passed on by sexual activity or by contamination with infected blood.

Some patients with hypersensitivity were initially thought to have respiratory disease (pneumonia, bronchitis, and pharyngitis), a flu-like illness, gastroenteritis, or reactions to other medications. This delay in diagnosis of hypersensitivity has resulted in Abacavir (Abamune L) being continued or reintroduced,
