My high school volleyball coach, Sharon Austerman from Cortez High School in Phoenix, Arizona is a wonderful person. When I was in high school many years ago, my family could not afford new athletic shoes for volleyball. She went to my mom, without my knowledge, and told my mom she would be happy to pay for my new shoes if my mom did not tell me. I found out many years later and was so grateful to be under her wing for 3 years playing on Varsity. She also made us learn our Alma Mater and after every game, we had to hold hands in a circle and compliment the person next to us on how they helped the team. No wonder she was inducted into the Coach's Hall of Fame in Arizona.
