Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

They will always have an opinion about you.

Always.

If you consume any amount of caffeine during your pregnancy, they say you don’t care about your baby’s health and development.

If you don’t lose the baby weight fast enough, they say you “let yourself go”.

If you have a c-section, they say it's not a “real” birth.

If you breastfeed your baby, they send disapproving looks your way because you really shouldn’t be doing it in public.

If you feed your baby formula, they constantly remind you “breast is best”.

If you stay-at-home, they think you sleep all day.

If you go back to work, they say you’re letting someone else raise your child.

If you fix them chicken nuggets and boxed macaroni and cheese for lunch, you’re lazy.

If you fix them healthy, organic meals, you’re an overachiever.

If you home-school, you’re hurting their social development.

If you send them to public school, you’re not giving them their best chance at education.

If you let them use social media, you’re putting them in danger.

If you don’t allow them to use social media, you’re the reason they're on the outside of their circle of friends.

The list is never-ending.

Because they will always have an opinion about you.

And they will always have something to say about the choices you make.

But can we just be clear about something?

“They” don’t know your child.

“They” will never have your child’s best interest at heart.

And “they” are not the ones raising your child.

You are.

You do. You will. You are.

Hold on to that truth, mama.

Tuck it deep down inside your heart where it can echo loud enough to silence the doubts “they” leave swirling around in the back of your mind.

YOU understand your child better than anyone else does.

YOU fight for them in a way no one else will.

YOU hold a love for them in your heart that no one else has.

That’s why YOU were chosen and “they” weren’t.

So carry on, mama.

Live your life like "they" don't even have an opinion because the only opinion that truly matters is yours.
