Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Finding a new mommy friend in a new city can be a challenge. During our last two locations in Los Angeles, we had wonderful neighbors. Both sets of neighbors were moms on maternity leave, and we also had children around the same age. This current move proved to be no different. Our current city, a small town outside of Dallas, has created yet another opportunity to find a village.

As I was running errands days before my due date, I ran into another expectant mom. We started chatting and I learned that she was also days from her due date. I found out later that she was my neighbor and after we had a play date, we realized that we had so much in common. Two of our children were the same ages, we have similar spiritual beliefs, and husbands that work hard to provide for the family. Both of us are also from the Chicagoland area. As we organically build our new village in a new city, we are grateful to engage such an awesome family.

The added bonus of our new connection is that we are both also driven entrepreneurs. Besides being a well sought after natural hair stylist, my new friend Sess has also created her own line of natural hair care products called Sess Lee Curls. Besides her contagious positive energy, it is great to have someone who understands the challenges of balancing motherhood and ambition. I can't wait to see where our new connection takes us.
