We Love LEGOS

Before our recent weekend trip, I discovered my daughter’s obsession with Legos. Thanks to the endless online toy reviews, I learned that she liked the creative aspect of blocks. However, it wasn’t until I purchased a set last week that I noticed how much she enjoyed the opportunity to build and create something out of only a few pieces. LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Grapevine, TX was perfect for her. Early March, LEGO® NINJAGO CITY ADVENTURE will open at LEGOLAND Grapevine. The specialty Lego stations and exhibits sprawled throughout the space presented an organic opportunity to engage with various types of Lego structures. The ages represented varied, and even adults had the opportunity to revisit a part of their childhood by building a structure.

We Love Weekend Getaways

Over the past two years, we found that taking deliberate time together as a family is an amazing way to strengthen our bond. Staying overnight at a hotel, even in the same city is a great way to experience a change of scenery. During our weekend getaways, we often dine at new restaurants. This past weekend we stayed at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. It was a great choice. The ambiance and decor were unique to the Fort Worth location. Despite having several restaurants on the property to choose from, we chose Cast Iron. Even the name was intriguing, and it was the perfect choice for our family. Sitting near the crackling fire created a warm and unique experience as well. The food was delicious. My chicken and waffle dish was enjoyable. I was also intrigued by how the chef prepared my chicken and waffles entree with a unique variation. According to the assistant manager of Cast Iron, Aliza Mitchell, the main lure of Cast Iron is their new menu, as well as their quiet yet warm ambiance. It makes the restaurant a date night favorite.

Our Kids Work Hard

There are so many aspects of family dynamics that go unseen to those outside of the family. As a parents, we even recognize how hard our children work. Our oldest daughter is autistic and deaf, therefore she has a daily struggle to communicate her needs and wants. Our middle daughter has her own set of unique challenges as a precocious and well developed toddler. For now, being the only child in the house that speaks is a challenge. She is the one to absorb and sometimes alert us to the needs of the other children. I am very deliberate in not allowing her to carry responsibility or burdens for her siblings. As parents, that is our job.

While celebrating every birthday is its own unique blessing, it felt great to deliberately celebrate our toddler with a fun weekend getaway.
