A lot of guys watch Internet porn. They find it sexy. Visual images work wonders for men. Not so much for women. We need a storyline, some imagination, a plot twist. With a compelling read, juicy sex scenes can go a long way.

But wouldn’t it be fun if the main character wasn’t a perky college student, a virgin vampire lover, or a twenty-something single girl but a mom of two—or even three?

Wouldn’t it be satisfying if the main character didn’t dash off to Florida or India or even Seattle, but instead spent her days running between Costco and Trader Joe’s?

Wouldn’t it be a book club favorite if the main character didn’t have colt-like legs, or an innocent smile, or even perky breasts, but instead was skinny-fat, had lines on her forehead, and a post-pregnancy pooch that never quite went away?

If you want to spend less time under the covers sleeping and more time, um, doing other things, you need to read good erotic fiction you can relate to. Reading a book that gets your engine going, your blood boiling, your knickers in a twist can be a real boost in the bedroom.

If you’re feeling restless, you can always read Fifty Shades. But if you’ve got kids, dirty laundry, and a kitchen that’s never clean, you may relate more to Restless in L.A. It’s kind of Fifty Shades meets Trader Joe’s.

Imagine: a married, forty-something mom of three challenging children (including a child with ADHD) gets a little carried away when she ‘friends’ an old boyfriend on Facebook. She has laundry to fold, grays to cover, and a pair of Target sweatpants that she hasn’t washed in a while, and she still gets caught up in a physical attraction that threatens her very way of life. After all, it’s fiction!

So quit making lunches before you go to bed and start reading. Want some steam under the sheets? Read something steamy! It will change your sex life. And you won’t have anything to feel guilty about—it’s a novel! Just don’t be surprised when you find yourself saying, “C’mon, Honey, it’s time for bed.”

Disclaimer: I am not just a reader of Restless in L.A., I’m also the author. I can promise you this book will cure your bedtime blues!
