Hello from Houston! I’m Stephanie Merchant, better known as The Nutrition Mom.

I am a wife, mom of 2 and a former junk food junkie turned Food & Lifestyle expert sharing Simple-Healthy-Solutions for busy families.

At 40 years old I found myself 50 lbs overweight and on heart medication and anti-depressants. My father passed away at 39 from heart disease and my mother passed away due to complications with diabetes and high blood pressure. I knew that is where I was headed and what I was setting my own kids up for.

I learned how to leave the junk food behind while creating delicious, simple, healthy recipes. I lost that 50 lbs (so did my husband), no longer needed any medication and decided to go back to school so that I could help other families. I founded The Nutrition Mom in 2011.

I have shared my story, as well as delicious recipes, on the Dr. Oz Show (twice), the Live Well Network, Great Day Houston, SHAPE magazine, First for Women magazine and more. I have enjoyed contributing to Today.com and I am also a regular contributor on Houston’s Fox 26 morning news.

My goal is to show that healthy eating does not have to be so complicated and that it is never too late for a new beginning!

I enjoy taking family favorite recipes and giving them a healthy make-over. I also love to share time savers (we are all busy), tips on how to win over picky eaters, and how to create healthy habits that last a lifetime.

I am completely comfortable on camera and have fun while teaching and cooking.

Here are some fun, healthy food ideas for game day (hello Cauliflower Buffalo Bites).

Here are ideas for spooky, healthy Halloween foods for the kids or fun foods for a Halloween party.
