To have Sun poisoning never really means that you have been poisoned! Well, naturally the Sun Poisoning is a common term which is used for a severe case of sunburn. It occurs when UV radiations inflame the skin and cause the myelin sheath. It begins with some symptoms leading to sunburn and often gets unnoticed which later causes much more severe symptoms and dangerous situations. The effects of sun poisoning are the most common in the summer days and also regions getting closely exposed to the sun.
Symptoms of Sun Poisoning
Sun Poisoning is very common for the people with lighter skin tones and people who are mostly exposed to the sun for their daily work. This is simply because the formation of melanin and the creation of the myelin sheath is far less when you are exposed to the sun for half an hour. The severe effect of sun poisoning may lead to many symptoms such as some of the following:
- Fever and chills
- Skin redness and blistering
- Pain and tingling
Treatment for Sun Poisoning
If you feel that you have been slightly sun poisoned or even there are a few remedies that will reduce the pain in a quick time!
1. Try to hydrate yourself by taking in a dosage of ibuprofen to manage the pain.
2. Try to take the Burrow's solution to help soothe the skin. You can make a cold compress made of milk and water and then apply it on your skin to reduce the pain/ Using Aloe Vera gel as an alternative is yet another great option.
3. Try to use cold water while having a shower and try to avoid perfumed items such as lotions, bath salts, and even oil as the application might turn to be negative with the skin.
4. Try to stay away from directly getting exposed to the sun until you are completely well. You can cover yourself completely to avoid the sunlight.
Preventing Sun Poisoning
Sun Poisoning can be very harmful to the people and too dangerous for the skin if you get exposed to the skin repeatedly. However, if you want to prevent Sun poisoning, then you can always follow a few steps to get relief from the pain.
1. Apply a sunscreen which is composed of SPF 30 (minimum). However, ensure that the SPF 30 has a labeled "Broad-Spectrum" mentioned above it. This signifies that the SPF is capable enough to protect your skin from the harmful UVA and the UVB rays. Apply it all over the skin for almost 30 minutes before heading outside. If you want quick reliefs then apply the SPF after every 2 hours and after you are sweating!
2. The timings between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. are the hottest of the day for almost every region in the world. So try to limit your outings within this period to avoid the effects of skin damage caused by sun poisoning.
3. Try to wear sunglasses as well as protective clothing which will cover most of your arms and legs to avoid the dangers of sunburn and also to get rid of the pain.
