It was a normal day. Woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and drove an hour to my doctor appointment. We arrived and did the routine, till it was time for the blood pressure test. They took my blood pressure and it was high. My doctor was concerned and that's as far as we got into my appointment. My doctor sent me to labor and delivery where they took blood and urine samples and hooked me up to monitors. I was almost 30 weeks with twins. We waited for the results and then they told me the news. I had preeclampsia. I was admitted and they told me I would stay until the boys were born which we were hoping would be for at the least another month. But... 3 days later my liver started to fail. I had quickly gone into HELLP syndrome. My husband was at work and they told me he had 45 mins to get to the hospital because they were going to do an emergency c section. Everything was a blur. He barely made it. I was on the table hooked to 2 ivs spinal block already in. When he made it. They came out but there was no crying. No screaming. I could barely see them. They were 3 pounds 5 ounces and 3 pounds 6 ounces. They rushed them to the nicu. I stayed in labor and delivery for about 30 hours after, I couldn't see them at all during that time. I was hooked to magnesium and still had a catheter. It was awful. They stayed in the NICU for 60 days. We went home a week after their due date. Today they are almost 1 year old. And healthy as ever.
