Jeff Davids,GM at the J.C. Penny store said that the sales figure has been rather steady and is expected to rise during the weekend. He is expecting a fairly good business this season. Keeping in mind the demand, he has even made provision to hire extra staff to cater to the increasing demand during the weekend.

He says that the competition is tough but he is expecting to make a good profit as, they have the right merchandise at the correct price. Many shoppers have already finished their shopping in mid-August and many would be doing it before the weekend; however it is likely that weekend is going to be very busy. Merchandise such as apparel, accessories and school supplies have seen a total of $27.3 billion sale value as regards $630.36 last year.

One of the most successful ways to pull customers towards themselves have been sales, and Staples are being making use of this strategy as Funk says that they have put a whole new lot of back to school items at “less list items” which includes some very aggressively priced items which are priced at whooping 48 cents.He says that it may just be selling now but the preparations are done for this event even before the schools break for summer holidays. Other than just sales item, Staples have proved to be in quite demand due to its 110 percent price match guarantee.

Texas instruments added that their strategy has been to attract young student towards their products as they have launched calculators and other stationary item in various colours, such as red, white and gold which are proving to be very popular among students.

Funk said that other than stationary, filter paper, hand sanitizer and facial tissues are very popular with elementary students. J.C.Penny’s,manager reinstated that they are advertising a special Saturday deals where they have attractive offers like buy one get another for a penny items. Keeping in mind the apparels, other than jeans and T-shirts they have also paid loads of attention to brands such as Nike and Converse which are a favourite among the youngsters.
