I come from a family of readers. I used to read every single day growing up, and it was one of my favorite past-time activities. I did have a social life too, and we were playing outdoors with my friends building little huts and who knows what else. My son is 11-years old now, well into the age where he could be reading. He is very fluent, but apart from homework, he simply does not enjoy reading.

Most of his time, if he could choose, he would spend playing Playstation or games on his phone. I know it's a different generation, but I just value reading so much that I cannot understand how he does not want to read.

I tried to give him some of my favorites from when i was his age, but he either ignores them, or if I try to read with him, it turns into a huge fight. I also tried to buy him some more modern books, but the content did not seem to be the issue, as it ended up just as badly.

Do you have any tips to make my son read more?
