Cora was born full term, we never expected what happened during her birth to happen. Cora was 7 pounds 3 ounces but she did not have oxygen for 3-6 minutes at birth because my uterus ruptured and placenta separated. I had an emergency c-section and woke up to no baby, she was rushed to another hospital with a NICU and placed in a cooling blanket for 36 hours to help keep her brain from swelling she was also hooked up to an eeg machine where she was monitored for seizures. She lost most all of her blood at birth and the doctor sliced her face and head open while trying to get her out, but they saved her life and mine. Cora had a collapsed lung due to all the blood she took in. I did not see her for 4 days as l was in a different hospital, she was not held for 4 days due to the cooling blanket. On day 4 she was given an MRI which showed her brain to look normal and thanks to a cpap Maxine her lung was opened up. Cora may still have learning disabilities as she gets older due to her lack of oxygen but now at 9 months old she is meeting all her milestones and we are beyond thankful for the quick action of all the doctors and nurses who saved our precious babies life and for all the NICU nurses and doctors who cared for her while she was in the hospital. Without the NICU nurses and doctors Cora would not be where she is today and we are beyond thankful for what they did for her and us. Our story is not like others but it was still the scariest time of our lives this little girl should not of survived but she did and we thank God for her every single day! She completed our family and we are beyond blessed.
