First Birthday Celebration

When my 24 week miracle was about to turn one, I knew we needed to have a big celebration. I polled his siblings looking for the perfect theme. Sesame Street was the overwhelming favorite.

My preschooler insisted that we couldn't have a proper party without party hats. Wouldn't you know, the party store didn't have any solid colored hats so I headed over to the craft store to buy colored card stock and ribbon.

Muppet eyes added a little bit of fun. I love the way these turned out!

It wasn't hard to coming up with fun preschool friendly snacks.

Slimey the Worm was always a favorite of mine. All I needed was a vase and a bag of gummy worms. This looked so cute until the temperature started to rise. By the end of the afternoon we had a bit of worm soup.

My kids love goldfish crackers as much as Elmo loves his goldfish, Dorothy. This snack was a huge hit!

Tootsie Pops are the perfect shape for monster heads. I cut squares of tissue paper which I then fastened to the lollipops with twist ties. I added eyes and noses to round out the look.

This small plastic trash can and a bunch of plastic baseballs made for a fun party game.

The kids were excited to go home with these crayon party favors.

Small packages of chocolate chip cookies were easily transformed into Cookie Monsters.
