As a working mom with two boys, 11 and 15, who have jam-packed school year schedules, summer afternoons with out sports practices or games gives us the rare chance/time to go on spontaneous outings and do fun and perhaps impractical things, like driving a half hour to a homemade ice cream stand we love, before lunchtime! Sure, they may still snooze in the car, want to blast their crazy music on the way or hold tightly to their cell phones, but they actually seem to enjoy those unexpected excursions as much as I do!
