Our son Cooper was born at 32 weeks and spent 37 long days in the NICU. I went to the doctor for my routine 32 week appointment and that was when my whole world turned upside down. I was diagnosed was severe preeclampsia, and soon was diagnosed was HELLP syndrome. Our sweet little baby had to be delivered that day to save both of our lives. As soon as Cooper was born, weighing 4lbs 3oz, they quickly had to rush him away to the NICU. The NICU was amazing, but having to watch them take care of my baby was so hard. I couldn't even hold my own baby. All of dreams of what this day would be like had been ripped away from me. He was tied up to so many machines and tubes, it was saddest thing I have ever seen. I spent everyday with him just praying and wondering if I will ever be able to take him home and be the one that gets to be his main provider. The mother that I had always dreamt of being. We went through highs and lows, set backs and accomplishments. Finally on November 7th we were able to take our sweet baby boy home. The struggles didn't stop, but my husband and I have never loved something more and we now know to never take a day for granite. Cooper is an amazing and healthy 3 year old now and is about to be a big brother for the second time!
