In vitro fertilisation (IVF), or “test tube baby” as commonly termed, literally means “fertilisation in glass”, is an artificial fertility treatment in which the eggs and sperm are fertilised in a laboratory. This process can be done through donor eggs and sperms as well. The fertilised eggs are then placed in the uterus. You can access the best IVF treatment in India to fulfill your wishes of having a child. The nation plays host to some of the most renowned and well-trained doctors who have extensive experience in this domain. This combined with cutting-edge technology and modern infrastructure makes it an easy choice for parents across the globe. It may not be apparent, but IVF is becoming increasingly common these days on account of rising pregnancy issues amongst couples.

IVF is most commonly used for the following patients:

  • Blocked fallopian tubes

  • Women without fallopian tubes

  • Infertility

  • Women suffering from uterine fibroids and other ovulation disorders

  • Reduced sperm motility and sperm count in men

  • Individuals suffering from genetic disorder

Taking the first step

Firstly, you will need to undergo hormone treatment to prevent unpredictable ovulation. This treatment is called gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue (GnRH agonist or GnRH antagonist). After 2-3 weeks of the treatment, the mature eggs are collected by an injection guided by ultrasound.

The sperm can be collected through masturbation or from the testicle using a small incision. Frozen sperms, collected previously, can also be used for this process. The eggs and sperm are then fertilised in temperature controlled lab rotary environment. Three to five days after this process, the most viable embryo(s) is placed in the uterus. If the treatment is successful, one of the embryos will implant itself on the uterine wall and grow into a baby. One entire IVF cycle lasts for about four to six weeks and the success rate is about 40% in women of below 35 years of age. You can get satisfactory explanations and details at any IVF centre in Delhi where they will tell you about the time duration, cost, expected success rate, risks and other factors.
