In China, bamboo is considered a friend of the people. And over the last several years, bamboo has become a friend to American homes, especially as more people are choosing organic and environmentally friendly products.

Bamboo is a grass, so it grows like grass. It can grow as tall as 47.6 inches in just 24 hours, and it doesn’t need to be replanted like trees do after being harvested. It’s endlessly renewable and plentiful, and can be harvested after just three years, whereas trees need anywhere between 15-50 years. This fast-growing plant is also grown without using pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and it’s 100 percent biodegradable.

As far as bamboo products, bamboo is one of the world’s most versatile products, and there are hundreds of ways you can use bamboo. But inside your house, here are five ways you can use bamboo products for a cooler, comfier and more sustainable home.

1. Bamboo Sheets

Perhaps one of the most known bamboo products is bedding. Bamboo sheets are like sleeping at a five-star hotel. They’re softer than even the softest cotton and luxuriously comfortable, and they stay cooler in hot temperatures and absorb water better than cotton.

Some say bamboo on your skin feels like silk or cashmere. And who wouldn’t want to lie down on that every night?

2. Bamboo Candles

If you want cleaner air inside your home, go the natural route with fresh, clean bamboo candles. The bamboo offers a natural air freshener, not an overpowering scent like too many home candles give off. Some bamboo candles are mixed with different varieties of white florals and citrus scents that are guaranteed to revive any room you place this candle in.

According to a Nest Fragrance’s bamboo candle reviewer, “Bamboo is the perfect fragrance. … It is the kind of fragrance you can burn for hours.”

3. Bamboo Room Deodorizer + Dehumidifier

Another way to bring natural freshness into your home is with a bamboo room deodorizer + dehumidifier. And unlike a candle that tends to just cover up a smell, an all-natural bamboo charcoal moisture absorber completely eliminates odors rather than masking them. The porous structure of the bamboo charcoal is what allows it to be a deodorizer and dehumidifier.

A two-in-one product that you can place in your bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, pantry and pet’s room sounds like the kind of product every home needs that’s looking for more sustainable comfort.

4. Bamboo Flooring

Tired of that old linoleum floor in your kitchen and entryway? Don’t replace it with expensive hardwood flooring; choose bamboo flooring instead.

Bamboo flooring is a sustainable alternative to wood flooring. It’s an elegant and hard natural material that’s stronger than oak. Some even say it’s the most durable flooring out there. Bamboo flooring is also cost-effective and doesn’t swell or shrink like hardwoods typically do, making it the perfect flooring option for your home.

5. Bamboo Disposable Diapers

Bamboo doesn’t just benefit your home’s environment; it benefits the people living in your home who wear it. Now, I’ve already mentioned clothing and bed sheets, but don’t forget about your baby’s diapers. Yes, there are even bamboo disposable diapers out there.

These ecological diapers are both naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, which makes them ideal for your little one’s sensitive skin. These diapers are also odor-resistant, soft yet strong and absorbent and their thermal regulating abilities keep your baby’s skin dry and comfy in every climate.

These companies are living up to their social responsibility, and at the same time, providing products that naturally benefit our homes in more ways than one.
