Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Challenge

Walking the Talk

Have you ever noticed that your kids are more likely to open up and talk to you when they're engaged in activities with you, like coloring or cooking or exercising? There's something about being together, side by side, that helps get the ball rolling on good conversation. With that in mind, the TODAY Parenting Team is partnering with the nonprofit organization Marathon Kids to bring you this special summer challenge. We'd love to hear from you about how you connect with your kids. How do you help them feel heard and valued? How to you overcome one-word answers, grunts and eye rolls? We're eager to hear your tips and success stories because we're all in this together!

And if your family could benefit from some conversation starters this summer, just sign up here to receive a free set of topics created by family physician Dr. Deborah Gilboa, a frequent guest on TODAY. Each topic — 26 in all — matches up with a mile of walking or running with your child. After covering 26(.2) miles, you and your child will have completed the equivalent of a full marathon, and you’ll have gotten to know each other a little better in the process.
